Bushland management
We preserve and protect bushlands through works that enhance local ecosystems, vegetation works, weed management and fire hazard management.
Every year, we work hard to...
- Inspect more than 2,300 hectares of bushland across 265 locations.
- Manage more than 2,350 fire management zones to reduce fire risk.
- Coordinate fire hazard reduction activities over 170 locations.
- Coordinate more than 500 working bees to support volunteers who help to preserve bushland areas.
Some of the core maintenance we deliver:
- Develop, schedule and report on the Biodiversity Works Program to maintain and enhance local ecosystems.
- Apply effective control methods to remove or manage noxious and environmental weeds in bushland areas.
- Restore and maintain native plant life through planting and direct seeding to support local biodiversity.
- Reduce fire risk through the careful removal or modification of vegetation in Fire Management Zones (FMZs).
- Coordinate and undertake patrols on declared Total Fire Ban days.
