Meeting with Victorian Minister for Water

In May 2024, we held a very productive meeting at Tyabb Community Hall with Victorian Minister for Water, Harriet Shing, to progress our advocacy for recycled water infrastructure on the Peninsula. This project would greatly increase our resilience to climate change by securing a high-quality alternative water supply for our agricultural and nursery garden industries and reduce the wastage of 370 million litres of Class A recycled water each day.

Key stakeholders joining the Mayor and CEO included Hastings MP Paul Mercurio, the Managing Director of South East Water, local farmers, the CEO of the Nursery and Garden Industry and the Chair of our Sustainable Food Economy and Regeneration Agricultural Taskforce. The meeting focussed on next steps in developing a business case for the project.
