Water

Our Water Future

Water is one of our most precious resources. Its key to our natural environment and the way we live, work and play on the Peninsula. The Shire works with community and organisations to collaborate on all aspects of the water cycle.

Integrated Water Management

Learn how we bring together the many different aspects of the water cycle - demand, harvesting, reuse, conservation and treatment to holistically manage this important resource.

Saving Water

What you can do to save water in your home, property or business.

Stormwater

All you need to know about stormwater, water sensitive urban design, soak pits and drainage.

Ground water

Within the Mornington Peninsula Shire groundwater is found in the Port Phillip and Western Port groundwater basins. This groundwater is used for irrigation, stock watering and garden watering.

Drainage

Drainage & Flood Mapping The Shire has committed to manage the impact of more frequent and intense storm events through drainage improvements and flood prone mapping.

Wastewater & Sewage

Domestic wastewater disposal is an important environmental issue on the Mornington Peninsula with many properties across the Peninsula relying on septic tank systems to dispose of their wastewater.

Waterways and Bays

Mornington Peninsula waterways, including creeks, wetlands and groundwater, together with our beaches and bays, play a vital role in our natural environment and are also important socially, economically and culturally.
