Make A Move, Your Way: uncovering ways to be active on the Peninsula
In partnership with Belgravia Leisure, clubs and community members, the Shire is pleased to launch Make a Move, Your Way. A locally created campaign promoting the many ways we move, connect with people and with nature, across the Peninsula.
There's no single way to be active – and this November we’re celebrating every way people choose to move. Whether you’re dancing in your lounge room, walking the dog, joining a local group, or trying something new - Make A Move, Your Way is about finding an activity that feels right for you.
We caught up with locals and Belgravia Leisure to hear how they get active – from social sport, to recreation centres, to enjoying the Peninsula bays.
A place for everyone
From accessible beaches to neighbourhood trails, the Peninsula offers something for people of all ages, abilities and fitness levels:
- Peninsula and Bay Trails – scenic routes for walking, cycling, handcycling or tandem riding.
- Playgrounds, skate parks and BMX tracks –free outdoor fun across the region.
- Seniors Exercise Park –simple equipment designed to improve physical ability as well as social connection.
- Accessible beach matting at five locations and other accessible recreation –making the coastline welcoming for wheelchairs, prams and mobility aids.
- Community Houses –friendly classes and activities in local neighbourhoods.
- Parkrun at Red Hill, Rosebud and Hastings – free weekly 5km events where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or cheer.
- Community Walking Groups – social walks to connect with others.
- Mum Walk - where motherhood finds its stride
- Build mateship with the Sunrise Wanders
- Walk together for a healthy heart via the Heart Foundation’s McCrae Walkers
- Sports clubs, aquatics and recreation centres –inclusive programs for women, girls and people of all abilities.
- Support for home habitat and produce gardening – building strength, physical ability and connection to nature by gardening at home.
