City Nature Challenge
In 2026, Mornington Peninsula Shire is participating in the City Nature Challenge, representing Greater Melbourne*.
People from all around the world will join the challenge and snap pictures of flora and fauna where they live. Do we have what it takes to put Mornington Peninsula on the map? Join our team, head outside and start documenting what you see on the iNaturalist app.
Participating is easy, download the iNaturalist app, create your profile, and venture outdoors between Friday 24 April and Monday 27 April 2026 to photograph local nature finds and upload them to the app.
Joining the challenge is a great way to learn about local plants and animals – and you’ll be contributing to local conservation and citizen science.
Suitable for: Anyone with a smart phone, you don’t have to be an environmental expert to participate! Learn as you go. Great for families, nature lovers, hikers, dog walkers, old, young and anyone in between.
