City Nature Challenge - Endeavour Fern Gully
The City Nature Challenge is a four-day global bioblitz, where cities around the world take part in a friendly competition to record wildlife observations.
The National Trust are custodians of a diversity of sites from urban heritage gardens to remnant bushland, and we need your help! We’re teaming up with Mornington Peninsula Council to monitor biodiversity in our wonderful area.
During the City Nature Challenge, log your observations of uncultivated species (not planted or pets) to contribute to the Greater Melbourne City Nature Challenge during April 24th to 27th, 2026.
Peninsula sites include McCrae homestead, Mulberry Hill, and Endeavour Fern Gully.
We have a guided event at Endeavour Fern Gully in Red Hill: come and meet our Environmental Advocate and see what this hidden pocket of remnant riparian woodland holds. Meet at 1.30pm on the 24th of April at Nearkey Biik Education Centre.
Get involved
- Find flora, fauna or any evidence of wildlife which could be anything from a bird call to a photo of your favourite plant.
- Take a picture of what you find. Make sure you note the location of the critter or plant.
- Share your observations through the free iNaturalist app.
Your participation helps scientists gain a better understanding of our local biodiversity and how we can better coexist with nature.
