Direct Debit with Payble

  • Flexible option to pay weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly (rates need to be paid in full by 30 June 2025)
  • Select the start date for your payment/s
  • If you choose a single payment, then your rates are due in full by 17 February 2025
  • Automatic deductions from your bank, direct debit or credit card (surcharge applies when paying by card)
  • If you have any outstanding rates, these must be paid up to date prior to establishing your payment plan or settled at the time of your initial scheduled payment
  • You will receive an SMS reminder before each payment due date
  • You have the flexibility to alter your payment frequency, method, or details at any time
  • The payment plan will automatically renew each financial year, there is no need to reapply
  • If you have arrears greater than $1,000, please call Maddocks Recoveries on 03 9258 3847.

BPAY

Paying with BPAY - Telephone and Internet banking payments

Find the BPAY biller code (20537) and reference number located in the box next to the BPAY symbol on the front of your Rates Notice.

Log into your online banking, select Pay with BPAY, and enter the BPAY details, payment amount and payment date to make payment.


Pay your rates online

Click on this link to make your Online rate payment then follow the prompts.

In person at any Shire office

Please present the rate notice intact at any Shire office (Mornington open 9am-4.30pm, Rosebud open 9am-4.30pm, or Hastings open 1pm-4.30pm). Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).

Payments can be made by cash, cheque, EFTPOS, MasterCard or Visa. There is a surcharge when paying by card.

Make cheques payable to ‘Mornington Peninsula Shire’.


Australia Post and Post Billpay

Post office

Pay at any Australia Post office. 

Paying with Post Billpay

Find the Post Billpay code (3064) and reference number located in the box next to the Australia Post symbol on the front of your Rates Notice, phone 13 18 16, to pay quickly and easily using credit card via an automated payment service. Accepted cards are Mastercard and VISA.

This payment option is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from most push button phones.

Rate payment assistance

Regular payments

Making small, regular payments can help reduce penalty interest when rates are not paid in full by 30 June 2025; a formal payment plan is not necessary to make these payments.

Or you can set up a formal payment plan through Payble.

Financial hardship

Ratepayers experiencing financial hardship can complete our online application by clicking on the below link. We will review your application and be in touch to discuss.

Alternatively, you could contact our Debt Management Team on 5950 1080 to discuss your circumstances and an application form will be sent where applicable.  

Please be aware that financial hardship consideration is only available to owner occupiers, or to tenants who are responsible for the rates, where the property is their primary residence and who have the appropriate authority from the owner (there is an authority form).

When are rates due

If paying rates in full, the rates must be paid on or by 17 February 2025.

If paying by 4 instalments:

First instalment on or before 30 September 2024

Second instalment by 2 December 2024

Third instalment by 28 February 2025

Fourth instalment by 2 June 2025.

Instalment reminders will be sent prior to the due date.

If the first instalment is not paid on or before 30 September 2024, the property automatically reverts to pay in full due on or before 17 February 2025.

Any payments received after 30 September will be considered as partial payments. No reminders for instalments will be sent out, and the remaining balance is required to be settled in full by 17 February 2025.

When are rate notices sent

Annual Rates & Valuation Notices

Are posted and emailed out mid-August each year.

Instalment notices

The 1st instalment is paid on receipt of the Annual Rates Notice.

Then the 3 further instalment notices are sent 3 weeks prior to the instalment payment due date.

How do I update my details with Council

Change of address

If you have moved, please complete our online form by clicking on this link change of address.

Change of Name

Once you hit the Submit button, the form is sent directly through to our Rate Changes Team who will update your property file/name record accordingly.

Be scam savvy

We have received reports of community members receiving scam phone calls or letters relating to rate payments, claiming to be from Mornington Peninsula Shire.
