Please be aware that as of 10 July 2023, Council has introduced a 0.36% surcharge for all card payments.

Pay my rates

Payment can be as a lump sum, part payment or by instalments:

  • Pay your rates in full by 15 February 2024
  • Pay your rates by instalments on or before:
  • 30 September 2023
  • 30 November 2023
  • 28 February 2024
  • 31 May 2024

If paying by instalments, the first instalment must be paid by 30 September 2023. Payments received after 30 September 2023 will be treated as part payments only and the balance must be paid in full by 15 February 2024.

When should I expect to receive my instalment notices?  Three weeks before the instalment payment due date.

When should I expect to receive my annual rates notice? Late-August 2023

My details have changed, how do I update them?  Use our online forms to let us know of your change of address or change of name.

How to Pay

Payment by Direct Debit

We offer Direct Debit where Council deducts your rates from your bank account, there are either 4 instalment payments or by 9 monthly payments.

Regular payments

Regular rate payments can be made at any time throughout the year once a payment plan has been entered into by speaking with one of our Revenue officers, please call us on 5950 1080.

Online Payments

Pay online by credit card through our online payment portal.

As mentioned above, Council has introduced a 0.36% surcharge on all card payments.

Online payments from your savings or cheque account can be made through PostBillPay  Details are found on the front of your rate notice.

BPAY - Telephone and Internet banking payments 

BPAY lets you receive and pay your bills through your online banking, please refer to your Bank or financial institution.  You will be required to enter the Biller Code and BPAY reference detailed on the front of your rates notice.

In person 

You can pay your rates in person by cash, cheque, money order, credit card or BPay at any of our Customer Service Centres between 9.00am - 4.30pm, Monday - Friday (except public holidays). Please present your rates notice intact for payment. Please make cheques payable to 'Mornington Peninsula Shire'.

By Mail

Please include the payment slip and make cheques payable to 'Mornington Peninsula Shire'. Please note that receipts will not be issued for mailed payments.

Post Office 

Pay at any Australia Post Office.

Using the Post Billpay details found on the front of your rate notice. Payments can be made quickly and easily using credit card via an automated payment service. Accepted cards are Mastercard and VISA.

This payment option is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from most push button phones.

We have received reports of community members receiving scam phone calls or letters relating to rate payments, claiming to be from Mornington Peninsula Shire.
