Information Privacy
Mornington Peninsula Shire is committed to compliance with its obligations under the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 and the Health Records Act 2001. All personal information and health information collected by the Shire will only be used for the purposes outlined within its Privacy Policy (see link below). The Shire will only disclose personal or health information when is it reasonably and lawfully required to. You may access information you have provided to the Shire at any time and make corrections if you believe that information is incorrect.

Making a Privacy Complaint
An individual may lodge a complaint with the Shire’s Privacy Officer regarding the handling of personal and health information by us.
While you may lodge your complaint over the phone, it is preferable that your complaint is submitted in writing.
Written complaints can be emailed to privacy@mornpen.vic.gov.au or mailed to the Privacy Officer, Mornington Peninsula Shire, Private Bag 1000 Rosebud VIC 3939.
Alternatively, the Privacy Officer can be contacted by telephone on 03 5950 1225 for assistance with lodging a complaint.
The complaint should include:
- how you believe your privacy has been breached;
- a brief explanation of the effect the breach has had;
- what you would like the Shire to do in response to your complaint.
The Privacy Officer will investigate the complaint and provide a written response within 20 working days.

However, if you have not first made a complaint to the Shire, the Commissioners may decline to hear your complaint.
