BioBlitz 2025
We did it! The Peninsula has officially taken out first place in the BioBlitz species count with an incredible 1,360 submissions! Thank you to everyone who joined the fun, snapped local wildlife, and helped put the Peninsula on top this Biodiversity Month. Check out some of the amazing photos captured across our region!
In September we partnered with our neighbouring councils for the Greater Melbourne BioBlitz to celebrate Biodiversity Month and we invited everyone on the Mornington Peninsula to help us take the top spot!
BioBlitz 2025 is a month-long, nature-based citizen science event encouraging people across Greater Melbourne to get outdoors, explore the natural environment, and record their discoveries in the free iNaturalist app. You can photograph all kinds of living things – plants, animals, birds, bugs, butterflies, or fungi.
It’s a fun way to learn about local biodiversity while contributing to conservation and research – and every single observation helps boost the Peninsula’s tally in the friendly council competition.
