1. Overview

Since its establishment in 1971, Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery (MPRG) has grown to become one of Australia’s leading regional galleries, renowned for its exhibition program of Australian and international art.

MPRG embraces traditional and contemporary art in all its forms, ensuring there’s something for everyone. National touring exhibitions and MPRG-curated exhibitions offer a rich cultural experience for the local community as well as visitors to the region. MPRG-curated exhibitions often explore the distinctive coastal environment and feature works by Australian artists with a connection to the Mornington Peninsula. MPRG also showcases its outstanding collection, which focuses on the cultural heritage of the Mornington Peninsula and contemporary Australian works on paper.

Through events organised by the Gallery, visitors are able to engage more fully with the art and the artists. MPRG conducts lectures, excursions, artist talks and workshops. It also has an important education program to help cultivate an interest in art in students of all year levels and runs a monthly Young at Art program for pre-schoolers.

MPRG is the region’s major cultural facility and is supported by Mornington Peninsula Shire and other partners.
