PLEASE NOTE: Rye landfill is closed until further notice for all commercial loads more than 4 cubic metres. Smaller loads can still access the push pit and the resource recovery centre is open as usual.

Payment method is EFTPOS or Credit Card only. Cash is not accepted. Waste vouchers (printed or digital copies) are also accepted.
Proof of Shire residency may need to be presented to qualify for Shire resident fees and charges. Either a driving licence or rates notice will be accepted.
The Shire does not record, collect or store any personal information used to demonstrate Shire residency.
What is Accepted?
- Green, hard and general waste.
- A range of recyclable materials (paint, E-waste, household recycling etc - see Fees and Charges for details)
- Large vehicles unable to use the weigh bridge will not be accepted (length of weigh bridge 10m).
- All trucks with loads containing putrescible waste go to the landfill and are weighed and charged per tonne.
- Small trucks with loads of solid inert waste less than 4 cubic metres or skip bins up to 4 cubic metres must access the push pit and are charged per cubic metre.
- All utilities and trailers must access the push pit and are charged per cubic metre.
- All vehicles accepted.
- A minimum weighbridge charge of 0.5 tonnes applies.
- A maximum limit of 4 mattresses applies (Domestic quantities accepted)
- A maximum limit of 2 fridges/air conditioning units (Domestic quantities accepted)
- A maximum limit of 4 tyres applies (see below for terms and conditions)
Mornington Peninsula Shire Council provides free drop off for up to four vehicle tyres at our transfer stations for residents. This is for personal or hobby use purposes and is not intended to support or subsidise commercial businesses who are charging for tyre replacements. The disposal of tyres will be tracked and limited to a total dropped off by any one person to 20 per financial year. Free tyre disposal may be refused if commercial use is suspected.

Mulch/Crushed Rock
To purchase mulch or crushed rock from the Rye Resource Recovery Centre, please proceed to the gatehouse where you will be directed to the mulch area.
