Meals on Wheels
The Meals on Wheels Service delivers nutritious meals to residents who are unable to provide for their personal dietary needs.
The Shire can supply one meal a day that consists of a soup, main meal and dessert. A vitamin C supplement is also provided in the form of a fruit juice or piece of fruit. Eligible residents can have up to seven meals a week.
The service can cater for a range of special dietary and cultural requirements.
Trained and qualified team members at the Shire’s Meals on Wheels Kitchen in Rosebud prepare all meals which are delivered by a volunteer workforce to clients each weekday.
The Your Choice Menu allows you to choose from several options each day to select the food that best suits your tastes and is updated twice a year.
You can view a copy of the menu(PDF, 357KB) that is in place from 25 May to 22 November 2020.
Cultural and medical exclusions can be catered for.
The Shire aims to reduce saturated fats, sugar and salt and to restrict the carbohydrate portion size in all meals, making each meal suitable for people with diabetes. However, you should consult a dietitian or doctor if you are concerned.
