- Project typeRoads, Streetscapes and Footpaths
- Project value$100,000 (Design)
As an outcome of the Shire’s Footpath Construction Strategy, the footpath construction along the Nepean Highway was identified as a high priority. The construction of the footpath will provide a safe, all-weather access for pedestrians.
The project is proposed to include a footpath along the northern side of the Nepean Highway from Mornington Secondary College to the existing footpath at the Volitans Road intersection in Mount Eliza.
The Detailed Design for Stages 1 and 2 has been completed, and approval requests have been submitted to the relevant authorities. MPSC has requested updated advice from a Cultural Heritage Consultant and have received a proposal for Flora and Fauna assessment. MPSC has met with Mornington Secondary School to discuss the footpath proposal.
Designs are currently progressing, and relevant authority approvals are being sought. The design, which includes a footpath and intersection crossing, is currently under review by the Department of Transport. Meanwhile, the culvert design is in progress and will be reviewed by Melbourne Water.
Construction for Stages 1 and 2 will depend on funding in future financial years.
