Emergency Preparedness Info Sessions at Your Local Connection Points

Emergency Response Workers After Storm

Learn about seasonal risks and disaster resilience to protect your home, family, and community.

Emergencies such as bushfires, floods, storms, and coastal drownings are a real and ongoing risk for our region. As these events become more frequent and severe, building local disaster resilience is more important than ever.

The Shire’s Community Resilience and Emergency Management team will be visiting Your Local Connection Points to:

  • Share information about current hazards and local risks
  • Provide practical tips for preparing yourself, your family, and your community
  • Listen to your experiences and ideas to help shape future initiatives

Why preparedness matters:

  • It helps protect lives, property, and wellbeing
  • Having a plan can reduce stress and support mental health
  • Prepared individuals and connected communities recover faster

Preparedness is a shared responsibility. By working together, we can strengthen local networks, improve safety, and build a more resilient Mornington Peninsula—before, during, and after emergencies.

Topics covered include:

  • Pre fire and storm season preparedness (how to prepare your property etc)
  • Help with downloading and navigating emergency related apps
  • Person Centred Emergency Preparedness (PCEP) awareness
  • Ready bags
  • Open air burning queries
  • Water safety
  • Any general emergency preparedness info

These sessions are suitable for both residents and short stay accommodation hosts to ensure the safety of their guests.
