Water Minibeasts
Learn about the wonderful world of macroinvertebrates.
What sort of animals live in fresh water here in Victoria?
What do the animals we know really well, like fish and eels, feed on?
What even is a macroinvertebrate?
Students will observe, collect, and identify the different macroinvertebrates in the Briars wetland area and record the abundance and diversity of the organisms living there. They will learn about the different habitats they live in around the wetlands and learn about their different life cycles.
This is a chance for students to get hands on through our dip netting activity as they see up close what macroinvertebrates are in our wetlands and what signs they give us about healthy waterways.
