Community Investment Funding program is open

The Mornington Peninsula Shire Council’s Community Investment Funding (CIF) program is now open for applications.
 
The CIF program supports local organisations by funding services, programs, events, and festivals that are inclusive, creative, and enhance community wellbeing and connection across the Peninsula. 
 
In determining the funding allocations, Council was guided by more than 3,500 items of feedback from our community consultation process and the need to responsibly balance a wide range of priorities within a constrained financial environment.
 
The adopted 2025-2029 CIF programs are categorised across three sections:  

Our Place

Celebrate, protect and enhance our unique blend of coast, hinterland, green wedge and connected villages and townships. 

  • Environmental Sustainability Grants and Subsidies, total budget $150,000. 

Our People 

A safe, accessible, inclusive and engaged community that fosters our diverse culture, supporting health and wellbeing and a connected and compassionate society for all.                                                                

  • Community-Led Safety Subsidies, total budget $115,000
  • Cohesive Community Grants (Placemaking, Community Support, Flexi and Community Events), total budget $565,000
  • Transport Assist Subsidy $30,000
  • Community Houses/Centres Subsidies, total budget $344,000 
  • Toy Library Subsidies, total budget $45,000 
  • Commemorative Events Subsidy $150,000
  • Seniors Festival Subsidy, total budget $10,000 
  • Senior Citizens Clubs Subsidies (Shire owned and *non-Shire owned facilities), total budget $89,250 
  • Safe Community Subsidies, total budget $750,000 
  • Local Essential Safety Services Subsidies, total budget $71,500 

Our Prosperity 

Enabling balanced growth through innovation, empowering community groups and volunteers and fostering a resilient, thriving and vibrant local economy. 

  • Sponsorship Program, total budget $400,000 
  • Local Area Community Capital infrastructure Grants, total budget $1million 
  • Prosperous Community Subsidy (Tourism Centres) total budget $80,000
  • Visitor Economy Partnership, total budget $200,000.

Eligibility criteria has been updated to include a greater focus on community led projects and volunteer participation. This shift has resulted in the the removal of private schools and companies from grant streams.
