Seniors Festival 2025
A festival to connect, create, and celebrate
This year’s Mornington Peninsula Seniors Festival brought people together through a vibrant month of activities designed to encourage social connection, lifelong learning, movement and fun, and to showcase the wide array of opportunities in our region.
Close to 100 free or low-cost events were hosted across the region, a testament to the quilt makers, scone bakers, exercise instructors, choir leaders, nature protectors, gardeners, social connectors, teachers, artists, entertainers, film makers and history preservers. This year’s Festival was a wonderful mix of activities, acknowledging the different interests of attendees and celebrating diversity through our local seniors’ clubs, a screening of the Multicultural Film Festival and a visit to the Pride Centre in St Kilda. From discussions about composting, healthy ageing, end of life, emergency planning, downsizing and First Nations treaty to tours of heritage and arts locations. The Seniors Passport offered discounts to local wineries, spas, and cafes and much more. Festival highlights included the sold-out Australian Fleetwood Mac Show at the George Jenkins Theatre, the Multicultural Film Festival, the Pride Centre bus tour, and the launch of the recently installed Seniors Exercise Parks.
“A great event, a worthwhile investment, the staff were wonderful, the performer was amazing, and the food was great”, “Fantastic Festival – great that we can try lots of new things and meet new people”, “Like the idea of an activity with my grandchild”, “The speaker was so informative and fabulous”, “Loved the dance class. Great, friendly teacher”, “The events have opened my eyes on the wonderful offerings and services here on the Peninsula, plus everyone I’ve met are so warm and welcoming”
A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who participated, volunteered, and supported the festival. Together, we celebrated positive ageing and the spirited, social and creative living that happens on the Peninsula.
