Seniors Festival: Victorian Pride Centre Bus Trip and Lunch

To celebrate the Victorian Seniors Festival, Mornington Peninsula Shire invites older LGBTIQA+ people and allies to join us on a bus trip to the Victorian Pride Centre - the first purpose-built centre for Australia's LGBTIQA+ communities. We will tour the Pride Centre, visit the gallery and bookstore then sit for lunch altogether.

What to expect:

Bus trip

The bus will collect our group from the Mornington Peninsula Library, Vancouver Street Mornington at 10.00am and drive us to the Victorian Pride Centre located at 79-81 Fitzroy Street, St Kilda. The bus will return back to Mornington at approximately 3.30pm.

Tour of the Victorian Pride Centre

We will be taken on a guided tour of the incredible Victorian Pride Centre by an experienced tour guide that will give our group some background information on the centre’s origins, purpose, design features and resident organisations.

Pride Gallery

There will be two exhibitions to view during our visit - this is a chance to see All the Rage, a photographic exhibition celebrating upcycled fashion and diversity and; Queering by Caitlin Kozman - a curated selection of ongoing self-portraits that were diarised from 2022.

Hares and Hyenas Bookstore

Hares and Hyenas specialises in queer identity, sexuality, sex and gender diversity. Intersecting social factors such as gender, class, race and cultural background are used to develop a broad collection of titles based on contemporary lived experience outside the heteronormative mainstream.

Lunch

The Little Social will be catering our lunch. They are a social enterprise café empowering young people to lead meaningful lives by providing hands-on skills development and mentoring.
