Our commitment

Mornington Peninsula Shire is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive community for everyone, regardless of their sexuality, gender identity or expression.

We strive to create an environment where diversity is celebrated, and everyone feels safe, valued, and respected. Our commitment extends to promoting awareness, education, and understanding of LGBTIQA+ issues throughout the Mornington Peninsula community.

Frankston & Mornington Peninsula LGBTIQA+ Collaborative

The Frankston & Mornington Peninsula LGBTIQA+ Collaborative aims to bring together community members, community groups, service providers and other stakeholders from across Frankston City and Mornington Peninsula to collaborate respectfully and meaningfully with the aim of enhancing and protecting the health and wellbeing of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Intersex, Queer, Questioning, Asexual, Agender, Aromantic + (LGBTIQA+) communities while reducing LGBTIQA+ discrimination, abuse and oppression through advocacy, educational awareness and addressing systemic change.

Support Services

  • Switchboard Victoria: Switchboard provides peer-driven support services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and gender diverse, intersex, queer and asexual (LGBTIQA+) people, their families, allies and communities. https://www.switchboard.org.au/
  • QLife: QLife is Australia’s first nationally-oriented peer support and referral service for people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and/or intersex (LGBTI). https://qlife.org.au/
  • Queerspace: Queerspace is a LGBTIQ+ health and wellbeing support service established in 2009 by LGBTIQ+ communities for LGBTIQ+ communities. Queerspace has a focus on relationships, families, parenting and young people. https://www.queerspace.org.au/ 
  • Headspace Rosebud: Headspace Rosebud is a voluntary, free and confidential health service for young people aged 12 - 25 in the southern Mornington Peninsula area. https://headspace.org.au/headspace-centres/rosebud/
  • Lifeline: Lifeline is a 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention helpline. Lifeline is available Australia-wide, 24 hours a day, for anyone experiencing a personal crisis. https://www.lifeline.org.au/
  • Kids Helpline: Kids Helpline provides phone counselling and crisis support to young people: kids, teens, and young adults. They also offer heaps of online resources for youth, parents, and carers. https://kidshelpline.com.au/
  • Mornington Peninsula Shire Youth Services: Mornington Peninsula Shire Youth hosts inclusive activities, programs and events throughout the year for young LGBTIQA+ people and allies - Rainbow Community - Mornington Peninsula Youth Services
  • Rainbow Connections: Rainbow Connections is a support group for trans, non binary and gender diverse children and young people and their families in the Mornington Peninsula area. The group meets every second Thursday from 5:30 -7:30 in a safe and supportive environment - Rainbow Connections.

Inclusive language acknowledges diverse identities, going beyond gender and sexuality to embrace various aspects of identity. It breaks down barriers, builds understanding, and cultivates a sense of belonging for everyone.
