Stage 1 of the Heritage Review has now been completed. The recommendations of the Review were incorporated into the Planning Scheme through Amendment C174 (Part 1) and Amendment C174 (Part 3). Amendment C174 (Part 2) related to the abandonment of some earlier exhibited potential heritage places. The approved amendment documentation is available below:
Stage 2 of the Heritage Review has now been completed. The recommendations of the Review were incorporated into the Planning Scheme through Amendment C214 that is now awaiting Ministerial authorisation.

Stage 3 of the Heritage Review has recently been commissioned and Heritage Alliance appointed to undertake an assessment. It is expected for this study to recommend some new heritage properties and to strengthen / update Statements of Significance for some of the existing heritage places.
Draft Review will be exhibited in 2018.
Tenders for this stage will be invited in early 2018.
The Mornington Peninsula Shire Heritage Review proposes the review of existing heritage overlays in the Shire and identification of additional potential heritage places.
For the purposes of review, the Shire has been divided into four study areas and stages.
Stage 1: Mount Eliza, Mornington, Mount Martha - now completed and new Heritage Overlays applied
Stage 2: Safety Beach to Rye (including hinterland areas like Boneo, Fingal, St Andrews Beach) – now completed
Stage 3: Sorrento and Portsea – research currently undertaken
Stage 4: Somerville, Hastings, coastal townships and rural areas – future (preliminary works commenced)
