Smoother, safer journeys ahead as road renewal works begin
Published on 08 October 2025
The Mornington Peninsula community can look forward to smoother, safer journeys, with the Shire’s annual Road Resurfacing and Rehabilitation Program (RRRP) now underway.
This year, Council is investing $5.3 million in road renewal, supported by an additional $2 million from the Federal Government’s Roads to Recovery program. Works will be delivered across more than 30 local roads in 2025/26, improving safety, extending the life of our road network and reducing future maintenance needs.
Some works, including Uralla Road, Mount Martha, are already underway or completed. Upcoming works include:
- Wooralla Drive, Mount Eliza
- Canadian Bay Road, Mount Eliza
- Old White Hill Road, Dromana
- Point Leo Road, Point Leo
- Verdon Street, Dromana
- Heales Street, Dromana
- Coryule Street, Shoreham.
The program will roll out in stages across the Peninsula through to mid-2026, helping minimise disruption.
With more than 1,450 kilometres of sealed local roads to manage, the RRRP will renew more than 200,000 square metres of road this year.
Works will include asphalt patching, asphalt resheeting and spray sealing, depending on the characteristics of each road. Residents living on affected roads will be notified before work commences. For more information visit mornpen.vic.gov.au/rrrp.
The Shire also continues to advocate to the State Government for the renewal of major arterial roads such as Nepean Highway, Boneo Road and Frankston-Flinders Road, which are not Council-managed.

Quotes attributable to Mayor Councillor Anthony Marsh:
“The condition of local roads is one of the biggest concerns we hear from our community. This program delivers smoother, safer roads right across the Peninsula, making every journey better.”
