The Facility has been closed since mid 2022 due to drainage issues that has resulted in the presence of mould. Works are required to remove mould and stop water ingress prior to reconstructing the building to allow it to be reopened.

Funding for the early works to rectify drainage and remove mould-affected has been approved in the 2025/26 budget. Following these early works a period of drying out will occur and further funding will be sought for the remaining works to restore the facility prior to it being reopened.

Status Update:

Plumbing works have been completed, and internal strip out of wall and floor coverings has commenced. Engagement with community groups is ongoing to keep them informed of progress.

All strip‑out activities are now complete, and the drying‑out process is underway.

A budget submission has been lodged to secure funding for the next stage of restoration works.
