An exciting business opportunity for a local/social enterprise

The future is reusable trailer.jpg

Our vibrant region has a thriving social enterprise and business community and a jam-packed calendar of community events. Our latest Beyond Zero Waste initiative speaks to both: Let us introduce our brand new, custom-built trailer, designed to tackle waste at events by replacing single-use items with reusable alternatives. Stocked with plates, bowls and cups and an industrial-strength dishwasher, the trailer can provide for crowds of up to 1000 people.

The trailer has already hit the market circuit, much to the delight of patrons and food truck operators! Now, we are excited to announce a unique opportunity for a local/social enterprise to kickstart an eco-friendly business with our innovative trailer. The trailer is designed to be hired out as a complete service to event organisers, assisting food vendors and caterers at markets, events, community festivals, school fetes and more.

Disposable eating and drinking utensils are often the biggest source of waste at community events. The trailer was built to address this issue, minimising rubbish and waste costs for event organisers. All events held on Shire land must comply with our Single Use Plastic Policy and be single-use plastics free. Our guidelines recommend reusable crockery and drinkware as the best alternative to single-use plastics.

We’ll support a social/local enterprise taking on this new business. Manuals, mentoring and some promotional support will be provided. You will run the business as your own, organising bookings and payments, checking stock and of course, getting the dishes done!

This project was made possible through a $40,000 Circular Economy Councils Fund grant from the Victorian Government (Sustainability Victoria).

Expressions of interest is open until 29 November. Find out more: mornpen.vic.gov.au/EOItrailer
