Mornington: Kathleen Crescent Drainage Improvements

As a result of intense storm events in 2022 properties had complaints of flooding in the residential area of Kathleen Crescent, Mornington. Through the Shire’s Flood and Stormwater Strategy, funds were allocated to investigate measures that could be taken to reduce the risk of future flooding in the area.

Following on from this investigation, work was planned to address the overland flow path of stormwater in this area during high intensity storm events.

A design was prepared to counteract this issue, which involved modifying the existing drainage infrastructure, and overland terrain.

Work began in October and is now complete except for some planting works which will be installed next autumn when favourable growing conditions return.
