Overview

The objective of this project is to improve motorcyclist safety through a section of Browns Road between Drum Drum Alloc Creek Drain and Hyslops Road. This section has been identified as a dangerous site for motorcyclists due to the following factors:

• Roadside hazards: Several roadside hazards located on the outside of the roadway on the outer edge of the roadway at some curves which are unprotected, which are a risk for motorcyclists to strike should they exit the carriageway on this curve. Wildlife strikes are also common in this area. 

• Signage: Lack of signage provided to provide prior warning and guidance for motorists through the curve. 

Proposed treatments

To address these issues, the following treatments are proposed: 

• Install road safety barriers with rub rail protection
• Install Audio Tactile Centre Linemarking
• Install CAMs with appropriate spacing.
