Notice of Intention to Enter into Lease - Briars, Nepean Highway, Mount Martha
Mornington Peninsula Shire Council (Council) gives notice pursuant to section 115 of the Local Government Act 2020 of its intention to enter into a lease with Mornington Peninsula Astronomical Society Inc. for part of the land located at The Briars, Nepean Highway, Mount Martha (the Premises). The Premises is shown shaded red on the plan below.
The Briars is a significant environmental and education precinct managed by Council. The proposed lease will support the Mornington Peninsula Astronomical Society Inc., a local community organisation that provides astronomy education and public night-sky viewing activities from the Premises.
The proposed lease terms are as follows:
- Tenant: Mornington Peninsula Astronomical Society Inc.
- Commencing Date: April 2026
- Term: An initial term of five (5) years, with two further options of five (5) years each.
- Rent: $520 per annum (plus GST).
- Rent Increase: 3% Annually
- Permitted Use: Star gazing and associated astronomical activities.
- Other Terms: Such other terms and conditions as may be required by Council’s Legal Counsel.
Feedback on the proposed lease must be lodged in writing to the Property Team at property@mornpen.vic.gov.au
The closing date for providing feedback is 5.00pm on 27 March 2026.
