10th Mornington Winter Music Festival
Bust out the birthday cake, fire up the candles, and celebrate with us. Forget the winter blues this King’s Birthday long weekend and make a beeline for Main Street Mornington instead where you can enjoy THREE DAYS of amazing LIVE MUSIC, featured in both indoor venues and free outdoor street entertainment!
Celebrating its 10th year, the 2024 festival’s Launch Event is The Pleasures who will be performing at Beleura on Friday 7 June from 5.30pm. No shrinking violets, The Pleasures' sound is raucous, dirty, and blues-inspired (occasionally interrupted by delicate moments of sublime country-folk), whilst their subject matter leaps from bold and bawdy to heartfelt and insightful. Powerful songwriting at its best - you don’t need to love Country Music to feel this one; you just need a heart. Definitely an event not to be missed. Tickets available at beleura.org.au/music/
Saturday’s live entertainment on Main Street fires up at 10.30am with Modulation and with seven different music ‘zones’ (Café Prego, Biscottini Café, The Grand, Empire Mall, Merchant Lane, Library Corner, and Hecho En Mexico), the street will come alive to a range of genres including soul, blues, R&B, jazz, big band, and acoustic.
Saturday arvo features ‘Excelsis’, one of Melbourne’s most dynamic and successful Catholic choirs who perform to sold-out audiences at both St Patrick’s and St Paul’s Cathedrals. Book your tickets at St Macartan’s Catholic Church.
For the second year in a row, Main Street will be closed to vehicles on Sunday 9 June, transforming it into a walking promenade filled with live music and roving entertainment for the whole family between 11am and 5pm including fire twirlers, stilt walkers, hula hoops, face painting. Sit back and relax at 3MP’s Easy Music Hangout on Blake Street; get pumped with the Itchy Feet Pep Band at 10am; get the toes tapping with CJ Commerford and The Supertones; cheer on the band from Flinders Christian Community College and Mornington Youth and Citizens Band.
Sunday also sees acoustic duo Hove and Hull at Mr Paul’s, Bluetone Assembly at The Rocks, Bigfoot with Phil Ceberano at The Royal, Alan O’Connell at The Dubliner, and Ezra Lee’s Boogie Woogie Band in the upstairs band room at The Bay.
The free street entertainment on Main Street continues into Monday with Sunny Moo performing from 10.30am, with the remainder of the day’s program including Brothers Harvest, Russell Davidson, Pete Pasco, Jarrod Shaw, Chantelle and The Cat Cartel, The Romans, and ANDLIT.
