Naming of the Southern Peninsula Youth Hub

No longer on display. Expired on 20 April 2024, 11:59 PM

Council has run a consultation process to name the Southern Peninsula Youth Hub.

In 2023 we spoke with young people to understand what words they would choose to signify what the youth hub would mean to them. Using these words we consulted with the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (BLCAC) who provided three suitable names in response.

Council endorsed the three names providing the young people with the opportunity to name the hub. Following a rigorous consultation process with the young people, they chose Tounnin Womenjika meaning warm welcome.

Council will lodge a naming proposal with Geographic Names Victoria to name the hub Tounnin Wominjeka Youth Hub.

Should you wish to provide feedback or an objection on the final name or the naming process you can contact us at Pamela.Vercoe@mornpen.vic.gov.au.
