The Dromana Township Plan and Dromana Residential Investigation Areas Report set out the long-term strategic vision for the potential scale and form of buildings within the Dromana town centre and surrounding residential areas.

Council resolved at its Planning Services Committee Meeting on Monday 20 August 2018 to adopt the Dromana Township Plan and the Dromana Residential Investigation Areas Report following a six-week public exhibition period of both documents in draft form across May and June 2018.
Both the plan and report primarily aim to address the lack of building controls across specific areas of Dromana in order to guide future development of private land. The recommendations of the Dromana Township Plan were implemented into the Mornington Peninsula Planning Scheme by Amendment C224morn on 9 June 2022.
The recommendations of the Dromana Residential Investigation Areas Report are being implemented into the Mornington Peninsula Planning Scheme by Amendment C219morn.
