This media release talks about suicide which some people can find difficult or distressing. There are support services and resources available, including Suicide Call Back Service: 1300 659 467, Lifeline: 13 11 14, Beyond Blue: 1300 22 4636 and Standby Support After Suicide 24-hour number: 1300 727 247

On Sunday 14 September 2025, we are walking to acknowledge World Suicide Prevention Day. Join us at the bottom of Main Street, at Mornington Park from 9am until midday.

Chasing Change is partnering once again with the Mornington Peninsula Shire to raise awareness around suicide and mental health, as well as promoting community and social connection and support.

With your help, we will remember loved ones we have lost to suicide and encourage open conversations about mental health and suicide. This is a family friendly, community focused event, so please bring your family, friends and support people along with you.

Together we can support each other to speak openly and supportively about this important issue.

The event includes stalls, activities, face painting, music, speakers and a memorial roll call of people we have lost to suicide. As part of the walk, you are also invited to tie a ribbon to the fence on the perimeter of Mornington Park.

Attendance is free and all are welcome. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. This is a gentle walk around the perimeter of the park.

Register your interest via our Facebook event: mornpen.vic.gov.au/wspd

On the event page, you can also find a link to register a name for the memorial roll call.
