Hastings: Wallaroo Preschool Upgrade

Wallaroo Preschool was identified as requiring an upgrade to provide a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment for local children and their families.

Maintenance works previously completed include roof cleaning, replacing windows and frames and internal cleaning and maintenance. Minor external drainage works was also undertaken to improve the existing system and reduce flooding surrounding the building.

Works will include:

  • Enhanced entry for easier access to the community house.
  • Controlled access to the preschool entry for enhanced security.
  • Internal refurbishment of the children’s playrooms and bathroom amenities.
  • Upgrading the outdoor environment to be more inclusive for children of all abilities.

 

External play space and civil works have been completed. Internal refurbishment of the children’s playrooms and bathrooms has reached practical completion. Minor maintenance activities are scheduled, and the shade sail installation is currently progressing through the permit approval stage.

The kindergarten will continue to operate without disruption during the works.

Project Update: 

The building permit for the shade sail has been approved, and a site measure has been completed to confirm the installation location. Procurement of materials is now underway.
