An interpretive Red Hill station platform and shelter are now under construction in the same location as the original built for the 1921 opening, on the Red Hill to Merricks rail trail at the rear of Blue Moon Trading.
The works celebrate our history and are an exciting tribute to Red Hill's past railway journey. It is part of the planned stage 2 re-development of the Red Hill Station Reserve funded by a Mornington Peninsula Shire grant
Along with a new station platform there will be Red Hill station signage, fencing and an interpretive platform shelter.
The shelter will have the same corrugated iron roof and some weatherboard sides although it will not be identical and will feature information panels reflecting the remarkable history and acknowledging those involved in the construction of the line, the workers and engineers, and the Red Hill and Main Ridge farmers reliant on the service. It will also have seating that looks out to the adjacent bushland reserve on one side and the Red Hill bike skills park on the other side.
