Improving safety of local roads

This winter, we are improving the safety of local roads in Rye, Rosebud, Dromana and Mount Eliza.    

Works include:   

• Two compact roundabouts on Heales Street, Dromana at the Hodgkinson and Ligar intersections.   
• Raised intersection and safety platforms on Watson Road, Dromana.   
• A compact roundabout at Keogh Street and Potton Avenue, Rosebud.   
• Raised safety platforms, improved lighting and line marking in the Woodlands, Mount Eliza.   
• Replacing the slow point at the intersection of Marcia Avenue and Tasman Drive in Rye with a raised safety platform, pedestrian crossing and footpath. Additional raised safety platforms and another pedestrian crossing at Tasman Drive and connecting footpaths and a raised safety platform on Marcia Avenue.   

Acting Mayor Cr Paul Pingiaro said that works were identified and prioritised based on crash history and risk of future crashes. “These projects will deliver up to $2 million dollars of road safety improvements on the Mornington Peninsula, and most importantly make our local roads and streets networks safer.”     

These works are funded by the Victorian Government through the Safe Local Roads and Streets Program, which is providing $214 million to make local roads safer across Victoria.
