Mornington: Civic Reserve Sports Pavilion Project
- Project typeBuildings
- Project value$9,500,000
As a result of the redevelopment of Civic Reserve sporting fields and athletics track a pavilion was required to service the new facilities.
Energy efficiency has been prioritised in the design. A large 50kW solar PV system, passive design elements and efficient hot water, heating and cooling equipment will help to lower energy bills for the clubs, as well as reduce greenhouse gas emissions by almost 90% over the lifetime of the building. In addition, water sensitive urban design (WSUD) elements will help detain and treat stormwater to reduce pollutants and ease flood risks downstream.
The project combined with the broader precinct landscaping design that includes a perimeter walkway, outdoor gymnasium and will also resolve water retention issues on the eastern side of the athletics & soccer pitches.
The project was delivered in the following phases:
- Phase 1 - Construction of Sports Pavilion and surrounding civil and landscaping works
- Phase 2 - Perimeter track and drainage work
- Phase 3 - Perimeter Tree planting (In Review)
Works commenced on site in May 2024. Civic Reserve Sports Pavilion reached practical completion at the end of December 2024, in time for the clubs and community members to utilise the facility over the summer period.
Update: December 2024
