Quarantine Station

The Quarantine Station is a hauntingly beautiful heritage site set in the National Park. Established in 1852, it features nearly 50 historic buildings that once processed newly arrived passengers and livestock to protect Victoria from disease. Visitors can explore its restored precincts, uncover stories of migration and hardship, and experience a deeply atmospheric part of Portsea's history.

Fort Nepean

Fort Nepean is a historic coastal fortress at the very tip of Point Nepean National Park. Built from the late 1800s to protect Melbourne’s shipping channels, it features underground tunnels, gun emplacements and barracks. Now a fascinating self-guided site, it offers sweeping ocean views and powerful stories of Australia’s military past in a dramatic coastal setting.

Gunners Cottage and Cheviot Hill

Gunners Cottage is the furthest point you can drive in National Park, sitting at the edge of historic Defence Road. From here, access is pedestrian-only, opening into coastal bush and heritage walking tracks. Just beyond, Cheviot Hill is the highest accessible walking point, offering sweeping views over Cheviot Beach and Bass Strait - the site where Prime Minister Harold disappeared in 1967
