The Sorrento Solstice Festival is a free, all-ages community event presented by the Sorrento Chamber of Commerce, held on the Sorrento Foreshore on Saturday 20 June 2026. Free tickets are available.
The program runs from 2pm through to late evening. Live music plays across the day. Food stalls and artisan market traders line the foreshore. The Solstice Zone brings fire art and light installations to life as the afternoon gives way to evening, and roaming performers move through the crowd throughout. A Family Zone offers activities for children.
The festival triumphs with the ignition of Bernie, the largest burning structure in Australia - a six-metre community-built effigy, in a fire ritual marking the winter solstice. It has become one of the most anticipated events on the Peninsula community calendar.
