Mt Eliza Fire Brigade - 90th Anniversary Torchlight Procession

Mt Eliza Fire Brigade will mark its 90th anniversary with a ceremonial Torchlight Procession through the Mt Eliza CBD on Friday 21 August, commencing at 7:00pm.
A torchlight procession is a formal evening parade in which firefighters and brigade representatives from across the Mornington Peninsula march together, traditionally carrying torches or lanterns. Today, brigades use approved battery torches, lighting, flags, banners and ceremonial dress, making the procession a visible expression of brigade discipline, unity and service.
The procession will commence at John Phillips Lane (Mt Eliza Way Service Lane), Mt Eliza, and make its way down Mt Eliza Way before concluding at Howard Parker Reserve, where a presentation will take place along with a Lions BBQ and Coffee / smoothie Van.
The event will bring together brigades from across the region, including those participating for the first time, to stand together and help mark a significant milestone in local fire service history. The route covers approximately 750 metres of flat terrain through the Mt Eliza CBD.
“This procession is our chance as a brigade to stand together, honour 90 years of service, and invite the whole community to share in the tradition,” said Michael Hogan, Captain Mt Eliza Fire Brigade.
The community is warmly invited to attend, line the route and help celebrate this significant milestone.
