We all know garbage truck day is THE highlight of the week for kids – watching them race to the driveway and wave at the drivers never gets old! Well, now we are getting brand new trucks with the latest technology AND incredible mural artwork that'll make bin day even more exciting. Kids across the Peninsula can now get their hands on exclusive colouring sheets featuring jaw-dropping mural designs by local artists Jack and Josh – the same incredible artwork cruising our streets on the coolest waste trucks you've ever seen.
Prizes up for grabs!
This isn't your average colouring-in session! Kids across the Mornington Peninsula are invited to enter our Waste Truck Colouring Competition. Young artists are competing for some seriously awesome prizes, with one winner in each age category: Preschool (3 – 5 years), Junior (6 – 8 years) and Senior (9 – 12 years). That means everyone from tiny tots to older kids can throw their hat (or crayon) in the ring.
Ready, Set, COLOUR!
Getting your masterpiece started is as easy as taking out the bins! Download the designs instantly from our website at mornpen.vic.gov.au/truckart and start creating from home. Alternatively, you can grab your colouring sheets at these hot spots:
Don't bin your chances – entries close on 15 October 2025! Upload your finished artwork at mornpen.vic.gov.au/truckart or hand them into any of our Council Offices, Libraries or YLCP.
Local artists taking out the competition
As part of our waste management contract, our contractor supplies brand new trucks with the latest technology once the old ones get tired – and after more than 15 years of faithful service, it was definitely time! This golden opportunity allowed us to reach out to our incredible creative community and showcase what makes our Peninsula so special. This brilliant competition puts the spotlight on homegrown talent Jack and Josh, whose mural designs are transforming ordinary waste trucks into rolling galleries that'll make garbage day the highlight of the week! The stunning designs by Jack and Josh celebrate our pristine Peninsula environment, encouraging everyone who sees them to want to keep our beautiful region clean and thriving. It's art with a purpose – turning everyday waste trucks into rolling reminders of why our community is worth protecting.
Quotes attributable to Mayor Councillor Anthony Marsh: “Jack and Josh have created something truly special for our new fleet, and watching our local kids bring these designs to life with their own creative magic is going to be incredible. This is what community spirit looks like – turning everyday services into something that brings families together and puts smiles on faces. I can't wait to see the amazing entries rolling in!"
