From exciting new facilities to memorable milestones and unforgettable events, Mornington Peninsula Shire has packed 2023-24 with achievements! Here’s a look back at some of the highlights from an incredible year.
Fun facts and big wins
Community support:
We invested $4.2 million in grants, subsidies, and sponsorships across the Peninsula to keep local projects thriving.
Going green:
22,069 tonnes of food and garden waste transformed into compost, 55,600 trees and shrubs planted – we’re making our region greener and more sustainable!
Big events, big impact:
160,000 visitors experienced the magic of the Harry Potter Forbidden Forest, boosting our economy by $56 million, while over 50,000 art lovers flocked to the Archibald Prize at MPRG.
Keeping things moving:
We responded to 150,000 customer calls, filled 12,355 potholes, and swept 12,995 kilometres of streets to keep our Shire running smoothly.
Highlights from the year
We opened the $6.1 million Flinders Community Hub and the Olivia Way Playground in Hastings.
The Point Nepean and Hotham Road upgrades have made navigating Sorrento easier, and our first Multicultural Festival brought locals together for a celebration of diversity.
Plus, the $13 million Youth Hub in Rosebud, Tounnin Wominjeka, is officially here to support young people across the Peninsula.
