Struggling to get your little one to sleep? Not sure when to cut daytime naps or introduce solids? Wondering what the best way to tackle a “toddler tantrum” is? You’re not alone. Babies and toddlers are all unique. Often what works for others might not work for your family.

Did you know our Maternal and Child Health nurses run face-to-face personalised parent education sessions? These free sessions can help parents with newborns, older babies and toddlers navigating parenthood. Our experienced nurses are here to help young families feel confident in their parenting.

Topics we cover:

  • Sleep. While it’s completely normal for young kids to wake up in the night, it can be draining on the whole family. We have advice on how to give your family the best chance of a good night’s sleep.
  • Nutrition. When and what should your little one be eating? Are there rights and wrongs when it comes to weaning? We’ll talk you through all the usual hurdles and challenges families face and give you advice on how to make meal times a positive experience.
  • Development and behavior. All babies develop at different speeds, and with every new milestone comes different behaviours too. Learn how to gently guide your toddler when they’re feeling overcome with emotions, how to enjoy the moment and prepare for the next stage.
  • Playtime and safety. Stuck on play ideas? We get it. Often simple is best, and we have so many great ideas on how to be playful and safe with your child.
  • Q&A: Ask away!  Our small group sessions are run in a supportive environment, where no questions are off the table, so book in and get personalised advice for your situation.

Held regularly throughout the year, parents and carers can attend sessions tailored to their child’s age: 0-6 months, 6-12 months and 12 months +.

Our education sessions are held at Dromana and Mornington Park Maternal and Child Health centres.
