It’s National Volunteer Week and we’re thinking about the hundreds of volunteers around the Peninsula who go out of their way to make a difference in their communities. Did you know there are more than 1000 community organisations on the Mornington Peninsula that rely on volunteers to deliver their services and/or program?
National Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering and the 2024 theme is ‘Something for Everyone’. Here on the Mornington Peninsula those words ring true, as we have over 20,000 volunteers contributing to a variety of sectors. From hospitals to nature reserves, repair cafes to markets, crisis food relief and Meals on Wheels, Volunteers help the wheels go round on the Peninsula and for that we are incredibly grateful.
Volunteering is for all abilities and all ages. If you’ve been thinking about taking up a new hobby or applying yourself to a new skill, look into volunteering and make a difference in your community. There are opportunities that suit your interests, motivation, availability and location.
