Keogh Street and Potton Avenue Roundabout (SLRSP)

  • Project typeCivil & Open Space Projects
  • Project value$498,000 plus GST

Project Summary

Mornington Peninsula Shire has secured funding to improve safety at the intersections of Keogh Street and Potton Avenue in Rosebud.

These locations have experienced a history of serious side-impact crashes, highlighting the need for safety improvements. To address these risks, compact roundabouts will be constructed at the intersections to help slow traffic, improve driver awareness, and reduce the likelihood and severity of collisions.

Compact roundabouts have been successfully implemented at many locations across the Mornington Peninsula and are a proven way to improve safety for all road users, including local residents, visitors, pedestrians and cyclists.

These upgrades will contribute to a safer and more efficient local road network, supporting safer travel throughout the community.

Project Scope

Each roundabout will consist of a small, mountable annulus, asphalt speed cushions on all approaches and departures, and associated signage and line marking. Kerb, lighting and pavement rehabilitation works will also be carried out at both intersections. The compact roundabouts will be constructed within the footprint of the existing intersections at Keogh Ave/Potton St and Heales St/Hodgkinson St, will slow users on all approaches and departures, and improve safety at these intersections.

Construction Timeline

Construction of the new compact roundabout at the intersection of Keogh Street and Potton Avenue in Rosebud will commence on 21 September 2026. The works are expected to take approximately seven weeks.

To minimise disruptions to the local school community, construction of the roundabouts on Heales Street in Dromana will take place during the summer school holidays. This phase will also take approximately seven weeks.

Please note that all scheduled works are dependent on weather and site conditions.
