Project summary

The Schnapper Point boat ramp is a high-use facility that has aged and requires renewal. This upgrade project, funded by Better Boating Victoria, aims to maintain and enhance the existing infrastructure.

This exiting upgrade will feature:

  • New jetties to provide more space to tie up and better access to boats.
  • A new and improved boat ramp to increase launching capacity and ease of use.
  • New concrete manoeuvring area and pedestrian shared area to make navigating the carpark easier for all users.
  • DDA compliant accessible jetties and Hansa hoist to facilitate all abilities access.

Project timeline

The project has been divided into three stages to allow works to be delivered as funding becomes available.

Stage 1 – Complete (2024)

Planning and community consultation on the proposed renewal and upgrade works to inform the project design.

Stage 2 – Complete (2025)

Detailed Design of the adopted proposed renewal and upgrade works.

Stage 3 – Current works (2026)

Construction of the upgraded boat ramp facilities in line with the approved design.

Works are due for completion, with the boat ramp facility reopening to the public by October 2026.
