In 2024, Michael Stephens was elected to represent the people of Warringine as Councillor.
Cr. Stephens holds degrees in Psychology and Sociology and has been a licensed plumber for 35 years. He has also owned and operated a plumbing business on the Mornington Peninsula for 40 years.
With a strong background in community volunteering, Cr. Stephens has held positions on various local committees, including Kinder and School boards, Westernport Foreshore Coastal Management Committee, Westernport Seagrass Trails, and the CFA. He has also been actively involved in establishing and participating in local community associations.
Cr. Stephens believes that community participation is the foundation of a healthy and caring society.
As a Councillor, Cr. Stephens is committed to supporting local volunteer organizations, sporting clubs, and small to medium-sized businesses in the region.
He believes in the importance of involving the community in the decision-making process, ensuring that the voices of local residents are heard and considered in council actions.
Cr. Stephens is also dedicated to securing increased Shire funding support for Warringine, advocating for the resources needed to support local projects.
