Roadworks and closures
Road closures
Roads on the Peninsula will be closed from time to time to allow the safe running of events and implementation of works on or near our roads. To ensure these closures are safely managed, in advance, companies running these events/works submit an application including their Traffic Management Plans. View our Known road closures within Mornington Peninsula Shire(PDF, 145KB) which is updated when applications for road closures are granted.
Utility companies will often have to undertake emergency works and these may not be included in our road closures list.

On Tuesday, 30 June 2026 (6.00am and 3.30pm), Bungower Road will be closed between Moorooduc Highway and Roberts Road for a power pole replacement

Nepean Highway, Mornington - Southbound (completion 30 June 2026)
Transport Victoria are currently supporting private development works at 1158 Nepean Highway. These works are being undertaken behind barriers to provide a safe construction environment and are anticipated to be completed by 30 June 2026.
To support traffic flow and safety in the area, real-time traffic signal and Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) monitoring is in place and will continue for the duration of the works. Variable Message Signs (VMS) were installed in advance to notify road users of upcoming works and expected timeframes.
Signal timings at the nearby intersection have been adjusted to support school movements. During morning and afternoon school peak periods, additional green time and crossing time is provided for Oakbank Road to assist school buses and pedestrians. During these periods, Nepean Highway may experience reduced green time. Outside of these times, signal timings are adjusted to provide increased green time along Nepean Highway to support traffic flow.
These arrangements are in place to prioritise the safety of all road users and construction personnel. While we acknowledge the delays being experienced are inconvenient, safety remains the key consideration alongside maintaining the movement of traffic and public transport.
These works have been coordinated around the Peninsula Link northbound closure to assist with providing alternative travel options for motorists. In addition, Moorooduc Highway remains an alternative route for travel between Frankston and Mornington in both directions.
For up-to-date traffic information, motorists are encouraged by Transport Victoria to refer to the VicTraffic website when planning their journey.
