Groundwater

Groundwater is water stored beneath the ground in layers of soil, sand and rock known as aquifers. Across the Mornington Peninsula, groundwater is commonly used for irrigation, stock watering and garden watering.

Who Manages Groundwater?

The management, licensing and protection of groundwater in Victoria is primarily the responsibility of Southern Rural Water and the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA).
