Sustainability support for Mornington Peninsula schools

Mornington Peninsula Shire coordinates the Peninsula Teachers Environment Network, the Annual Student Sustainability Leadership Summit, an award-winning Sustainability Education Program for schools and more!

Annual Peninsula Stationery Collection

For the past two years, we have collected excess stationery from Peninsula primary schools and redistributed it to not-for-profit organisations.

In 2024, we collected 1405 unused exercise books, 2019 coloured pencils, 466 unused pens, 839 highlighters and more!

Items this year were donated to the Mornington and Western Port Community Support Centres and Mt Martha Community House.

Thanks to the teachers who organised unused stationery for collection. This is an initiative of the Peninsula Teachers Environment Network.

Peninsula Teachers' Environment Network

This free network provides networking opportunities for teachers to share ideas, projects and learnings, hear from guest speakers on a range of initiatives and receive updates on potential opportunities, grants and programs for schools across the Mornington Peninsula.

Meetings are held online or in person once a term. To join, contact environmentaleducation@mornpen.vic.gov.au

The Adaptation Game - Teaching resource

TAG Schools provides engaging, curriculum-aligned modules for Years 7-10 (and up) students on the Mornington Peninsula, focussed on sustainability and climate resilience.

The modules are based on the principles and resources of The Adaptation Game (TAG), creating an inclusive story-telling-based experience that scales climate change and disaster preparedness down from overwhelming global fears to local risks and agency.

To receive a link to the curriculum resources, please email: environmentaleducation@mornpen.vic.gov.au

People aged 16+ can also register to play or host The Adaptation Game.

Annual Student Sustainability Leadership Summit

Teachers from Mornington Peninsula schools can register 9-10 student sustainability leaders to attend our annual summit. Funded by the Mornington Peninsula Shire and delivered by CERES School of Nature and Climate, the summit supports students to work collaboratively to develop a project to improve the sustainability of their school.
