The Peninsula Ship Society consists of about 45 members who meet at the Hastings Yacht Club on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon. A guest speaker or a society member gives a presentation on personal experiences at sea, in the maritime industry or of an area of special interest relating to shipping. Time is set aside for questions, discussion and informal conversation followed by lunch at a local hotel.The society has a library of shipping books and a collection of videos and DVDs available to members. Annual membership is $30 which includes the society’s monthly newsletter “The Sea Chest’. Occasional excursions are made to places of maritime interest.Our members are from all aspects of the seafaring world, Merchant Navy, Royal Australian Navy; stevedores, square rig devotees, weekend yachties, cruise ship passengers, and also people who have had no direct connection with the sea, but enjoy the company and conversation involving maritime matters.Anyone who is interested is invited to attend a meeting as a guest. You will be made most welcome and perhaps you might like to join the society? The group is always looking for new members.
