The new Mornington Peninsula Shire Council
The new Mornington Peninsula Shire Council has met for the first time and elected Briars Ward Councillor Anthony Marsh as Mayor for the coming year. Councillors chose Tanti Ward Councillor Paul Pingiaro to serve as Deputy Mayor. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor were appointed at a special Annual Council Meeting on Tuesday evening at which all 11 new councillors took the Oath of Office and promised to abide by the Councillor Code of Conduct. The meeting also farewelled eight former councillors from the 2020-24 term: Despi O’Connor, Steve Holland, Antonella Celi, Simon Brooks, Debra Mar, Sarah Race, Susan Bissinger and Lisa Dixon. Mayor Cr Anthony Marsh is a second-term councillor and previously served as Mayor in 2021-22. Deputy Mayor Cr Paul Pingiaro is a first-time councillor and a Mornington business owner.
