Rye - Promenade walkway works .jpg

The Foreshore Promenade will provide a sense of arrival as the main ‘gateway’ to the foreshore. The Promenade links with the northern end of Napier Street and creates a strong central axis to the pier. It includes a refurbished central walkway and opens to the newly created Foreshore Park public space to the east of the promenade and upgraded carparking area to the west of the promenade.

These works will deliver an important upgrade to the accessibility of the foreshore alongside the connecting pathways delivered with the Foreshore Park upgrade works. These works will in combination provide a robust and connected foreshore area for Rye. The addition of a raised pedestrian crossing in Point Nepean Road creates a safe access point for pedestrians and links the site with the Napier Street Plaza.

Works are now underway for the Foreshore Park & Promenade areas. Demolition has begun at the pier carpark area and excavation is underway in preparation to complete connecting pathways to new plaza spaces and key areas of the Foreshore. The previous asphalt Promenade Walkway which ran directly to the pier has been demolished and preparation has begun for the new concrete Promenade Walkway to be installed.
